At the “Spirit of the Community” annual breakfast event to honor supporters and volunteers of the Livingston County United Way, held on March 19th, Dunnage Engineering and its employees who donate, were honored once again as a Top 10 Partner of this important local charity organization. Other Top 10 Partners included GM, DTE, Asahi Kasei Plastics, Citizens Insurance, Bank of Ann Arbor, Consumers Energy, and a few others. Dunnage Engineering’s total contributions (company + employees) was 4th highest overall.
Towards the end of every year, the company conducts a campaign inviting employees to pledge contributions from their paycheck the next calendar year. We had another very successful campaign last year for giving in 2025. Our employees continue to be extremely generous, helping other less fortunate people who are in need of the services provided by the United Way.
Donations to the Livingston County United Way are utilized to help fund a multitude of human services provided by various local charity organizations. A few examples include emergency shelter for homeless families or victims of domestic abuse, meals through the food pantry network for people dealing with poverty, specialty programming for seniors experiencing dementia, free or reduced dental care for low income families, employment programs for adults with special needs, and eviction diversion legal assistance. They also focus on helping to support those people and families in our community who are described as “ALICE” (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained and Employed). People in this situation are often earning too much to qualify for government assistance, but not enough to thrive in today’s high-cost economy.
